Cherry Bakewell Porridge

If you love cherry bakewells you need this porridge for breakfast!

Cherry bakewells have to be up there as one of the best British confections, for me anyway. I love all things bakewell, the frangipane YUM, the jam AMAZING and the pastry just tops it off. I feel sorry for people like my sister who aren't keen on the whole frangipane/marzipan flavour, I can kind of understand, it's a bit particular isn't it? But for me it's just so delicious, I could demolish a whole packet of Mr Kipling cherry bakewells easily. 

This recipe came inspired by those sumptuous treats and when I stumbled upon Pip & Nut Cherry Bakewell Almond butter in Holland and Barrett I just knew amazing things would be created in my kitchen. And what's better for breakfast than cherry bakewell porridge?? It's got the almond butter, it has cherries, it has flaked almonds, you can even add some cherry jam if you feel fancy. Just promise to try it, even without the P&N almond butter you could add some almond extract and it will be goooodd :)

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Serves: 1


45g Porridge oats
1tbsp Chia seeds
1tsp Almond extract
1tbsp Cherry Bakewell Almond Butter by Pip & Nut optional - normal almond butter works well
50g Cherries pitted
200ml Soya milk or water
Sprinkle of flaked almonds


✿In a small saucepan add the oats, chia seeds, almond extract and milk/water and gently cook on a medium to low heat for about 10 minutes until soft and creamy. Add more liquid if you like a thinner porridge.
✿Spoon into a bowl and top with the almond butter, cherries and flaked almonds to finish. Enjoy!
